Current situation:
Retired (since January 2009) after more than 36 years with the Ford Motor Company in Genk (Belgium). I have more than 42 years experiences in the paint automotive activities. I was the Manufacturing and Plant Engineering Manager in the Paint shop, including all maintenance activities.
End 2008, I established my own Consultancy Company: Process Technology.
Main projects:
• Installation of a new phosphate line (6 mln. EUR)
• Installation of New Paint lines with ESTA-machines. Interior- and exterior paint robots (6 mln. EUR)
• Installations of 32 robots for automatic sealer application (11 mln. EUR)
• Installation of a complete new wax machine (9 mln. EUR)
• Installation of a complete new wet sanding machine, including new dry ovens (6 mln. EUR)
• Modification/renewing of the complete paint shop for the introduction of the new Mondeo, Smax and Galaxy: o Extension of Paint booths and bake ovens, modifying of conveyors and storage lines, additional spot repair areas, extension of phosphate and e-coat installation, installation of a deluge machine before the phosphate machine, installation of new paint supply systems. o Modifications in the bumper paint shop and bumper assembly: o new ABB robots, new assembly fixtures, new automatic selectivity lines, oven modifications. o Total investments: 50 mln. EUR.
Other realizations:
• Introduction of Total Supplier Responsibility and Cost per unit payment (with supplier DuPont)
• Paint Launch leader for all new models.
• Launching of the Contour/Mystique in the US (Kansas City) in 1993 and 1994.
• Introduction of hem flange sealing application
• Introduction of different coagulation systems
• Introduction of Medium High Solid paint materials
• Different outsourcing activities: paint sludge treatment, cleaning activities and maintenance.
