·        Born in 1961 as the 3rd of 5 children in Cologne, Germany

·        Finished High-school with the German „Abitur“ in 1980

·        Attended National Service (compulsory) until September 1981

·        Studied Mechanical Engineering at the „RWTH Aachen” and graduated in August 1986 with an equivalent Masters Degree (Dipl.-Ing TH)

·        Studied Business Administration in parallel to joining a College Graduate program with Ford in April 1987 in Cologne, Germany

 

 

·        Multiple assignments as Product Development Engineer, - Supervisor, - Manager and Chief Program Engineer at Ford’s Product Development Centers in Cologne (Germany), Dearborn (Michigan, U.S.A.), Dunton (Great Britain) between Apr 1987 and December 2000

 

·        Chief Engineer, Ford of Europe, for Chassis Engineering, January 2001 to June 2006. Chassis Engineering designs and releases components and systems which are associated with:
- Steering, - Suspension, - Brakes, - Wheels & Tyres and Fuel System.    During this time period Ford of Europe had responsibility for a globally used platform which was also used in certain Mazda and Volvo products.

 

·        Chief Engineer, Ford of Europe, for Vehicle Engineering & Product DNA, July 2006 to December 2010. Responsible for the Department which develops and engineers solutions associated with
- Package Engineering incl. Ergonomics, - Noise, Vibration & Harshness, - Vehicle Dynamics, - Thermo and Aerodynamics Engineering, - Prototype Build and Testing and total Vehicle Sign-off

 

During this time period Ford of Europe had platform responsibility for a platform which was also used in certain Volvo and Landrover products. Also  Ford developed globally a "Product DNA" which was greatly based on the previously developed European Ford Product DNA.

 

·        Global Director, Vehicle Evaluation and Verification, in Dearborn, Michigan, U.S.A, January 2011 to January 2012. Responsible for all of Ford's Testing activities globally (including all proving grounds and test laboratories incl. China, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Unites States of America and Europe). Budget responsibility for multiple hundred million dollars and headcount budget was in the mid four-digit range.

 

·        Vice President "Sustainability, Environment, Safety Engineering and Vehicle Homologation & Compliance"​.  Member of the Board of Directors of Ford of Europe GmbH, and responsible for all matters related to Sustainability, Environment, Safety Engineering and Technical Compliance.
Globally also responsible for Homologation, Self-Certification and Technical Compliance overseeing activities in United States of America and Canada, Mexico, Brazil, India, Turkey, Australia, Thailand, China and Europe. February 2012 to June 2016

 

·        Automotive Engineering Consultant, October 2016 to date providing consulting services utilising the experience gained during the 30 years with Ford Motor Company. Help offered to Automotive Engineering companies or Automotive Suppliers with experience in:

- External Technical Compliance Reviews/ Audits
- "Fresh Eyes" Engineering Reviews with special focus on Total Vehicle Engg.
- General Design Reviews
- Training and Coaching in Engineering skills but also Management/ Soft skills
- Supervisory Board membership
- Engineering Organisation reviews and/ or audits 
- Challenges related to Vehicle Homologation and Self-Certification
